(Visit of scholars from Sultanate of Oman)
On December 14, 2022 Arabic-language specialist of Nizwa University, Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Said Al-Zubaidi and the Head of the Arabic language department of this university, Dr. Masoud Said Al-Hadidi and Dr. Helal Kadhom, a teacher of the Department of Arabic-language, translation theory and practice of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages have visited to Al-Biruni institute of oriental studies, Academy of sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The guests welcomed by the scientific secretary of the institute N. Jabbarov, the Head of the fund Sh. Islamov and the Head of the international relations department U. Rakhmanov.
The guests were first shown the new building of the institute. N. Jabborov introduced the guests about the activity of the institute and the work being done there. After that, the guests got acquainted with the activities of the restoration and scanning department and the work being done there. The activity of the institute left a great impression on the guests.
On December 12, 2022, the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with participants of an international scientific conference on the topic “Strengthening and development of common historical and cultural heritage in the worldview of Uzbek and Kazakh thinkers of the XIX century”, which was held at the International Institute of Central Asia. Among the participants of the meeting were Kazakh scientists Matijanov Kenjekhan Slyamdjanovich - General director of the M.O.Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, Doctor of Philological sciences; Batirkhan Bolatbek Shadenuli – Scientific Secretary of the R.B. Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies, PhD; Kidir Torali Edilbayuli - Deputy of General director of the M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, Candidate of Philological Sciences; Aubakir Jandos Magazbekovich - Director of the Scientific Research Institute "Abai Akademiyasy" of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, Candidate of Philological Sciences.
The guests were met with the Deputy director for Scientific works S.Karimova, head of the Fund Sh.Islamov and the head of the Department of International Relations of the Institute U.Rakhmanov. The guests were provided with information about the history and activities of the Institute, about the research currently being conducted. The meeting was attended by the head of the department” History of Central Asia " A.Khodjaev, Head of the department ”Historical Source studies" H.Lutfullaev, Head of the department ”Classical Literature of the East" S. Eshonova. At the meeting, the guests asked their questions. In particular, they were very interested in the procedures of electronic copying, the current principles of online catalogs, publications carried out by departments, the activities of the restoration and scanning department. Negotiations were held with representatives of Kazakhstan on the further development of bilateral scientific cooperation and on mechanisms for joint publications. The current activities of the Institute aroused great interest among the guests and stressed the need to think over ways to establish cooperation with the Institute in the future.
After the conversation, the guests visited the restoration department. The guests were very interested in the restoration work carried out in the department and the production of models. The meeting lasted 1 hour. After that, the guests thanked the staff of the Institute for the warm welcome and expressed their wishes for further cooperation.
International Conference of Young Orientalists on “Ancient Written Sources”

The 18th Ubaydulla Karimov International Conference of Young Orientalists on “Current State of the Preservation and Research of Ancient Written Sources” was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 4-5 August 2022. The conference was organized by Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences; the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan (Cabinet of Ministers, Republic of Uzbekistan); Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (Ministry of High Education, Republic of Uzbekistan); Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA). The conference was held at Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Tashkent. The opening ceremony heard the speeches of Prof. Dr. Bakhrom Abdukhalimov, Director of Al-Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Vice-President of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences; Ambassador Shoazim Minovarov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan; Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA; Ass. Prof. Dr. Gulchehra Rikhsiyeva, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies; Prof. Dr. Zohidjon Islomov, Vice-Rector, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of Imam Bukhari International Scientific-Research Center.
An exhibition titled “Conservation and Restoration of Manuscripts from the Holdings of Al-Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences” was opened on the occasion of the conference.
80 research papers were presented by participants from various countries attending online and in person. The session themes were: “Current State of the Preservation, Restoration and Cataloguing of Manuscripts”, “Historical Source Studies”, “Central Asian History and Historiography”, “Language and Literature”, “Islamic Studies”, “Arts of the Book”. Prof. Dr. Ashirbek Muminov, Advisor to the Director General of IRCICA on programs, read the address of Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA, who was unable to attend due to earlier arrangements. Prof. Muminov presented a paper during the plenary session (prepared together with Dr. Didar Bayır, Head of the Library and Archive Department, IRCICA) on the classification and preservation experience of Egypt on funds of manuscripts through the activities of the late Prof. Dr. Nasrallah Tirazi, who also served as advisor at IRCICA Library in the 1980s. Prof. Muminov also led discussions during various sessions. At the end of the sessions, certificates of participation were presented by the organizers to the young scholars for their achievements in research. Six diplomas for the best papers were conferred to Bashorat Khodjaeva (Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies), Ilyaskhan Bakhromov (Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan), Husan Usmanov (International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan), Durdona Zokirova (Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies), Mumin Mirzo Abdupattaev (International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan) and Asalkhan Rakhmatullaeva (National Institute of Painting and Design Named After Kamoliddin Behzod).
A Round-Table titled “Experience of Uzbekistan in the Preservation and Research of Ancient Written Sources” was moderated by Ambassador Shoazim Minovarov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, on the second day of the conference.
The papers of the conference will be published in the form of a book. Those of the preceding, 2021 conference were published the same year with the conference theme carried to its title, Proceedings of the International Conference Dedicated to the Memory of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov: New Perspectives for the Study of Islamic Culture, History and Art in Uzbekistan.

A researcher at the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, Khilola Nazirova, from October 15 to 18 this year, at the invitation of the khokimiyat of the Khorezm region, visited the Republic of Turkey as part of the scientific delegation of the Jalaliddin Manguberdi Foundation and the Khorezm branch of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment.
The purpose of the visit of the scientific expedition was to study and research the burial place of the last commander Sultan Jalaliddin Khorezmshah and research new information about his valiant name. And also the expedition took part in the international symposium entitled "Silvan and Sultan Klych Arslan", which took place in the city of Dyarbakir. Professor of the University of Public Security of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zhumabay Rakhimov and the head of the Khorezm regional branch of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Education, chairman of the Jalaladdin Manguberdi Foundation Bekzod Abdrimov made a presentation and new information about the life and work of the great Sultan of Khorezmshah.Scientists from Turkey and other countries also took part in the symposium.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the young scientist Bekzod Abdrimov spoke about the main goals and objectives of the delegation and about mutual scientific cooperation, about the role and significance of the history of the great commander in the fate of the peoples of the East. The governor of the city of Dyarbakir, Munir Karaoglu said that if confirmed, the burial place of Sultan Jalaladdin Manguberdi will be replaced by a mausoleum. Speaking at a narrow meeting, Zhumabay Rakhimov also spoke a lot about the courage and patriotism of the great commander, our ancestor, that he is a symbol and role model for the modern world.

The book New Perspectives for the Study of Islamic Culture, History and Art in Uzbekistan, published jointly by Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences and IRCICA, was launched during the opening ceremony of the international conference “Central Asian Islamic Manuscripts: Cultural Heritage and Historical Source” coordinated online from Tashkent on 16 November 2021. This conference was organized by Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Iranian Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the British Institute of Persian Studies, and Leiden University. The book presented at its opening consists of a collection of the papers presented during the international conference on “New Perspectives for the Study of Islamic Culture, History and Art in Uzbekistan” dedicated to the memory of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov which was organized by Al-Biruni Institute and IRCICA online and offline on 28 May 2021. Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA, gave an address at the opening session of the conference “Central Asian Islamic Manuscripts: Cultural Heritage and Historical Source” and presented the book to the participants. The book (774 pp., 24 cm.) includes a total of 84 articles in the Uzbek, Russian and Turkish languages, each with an abstract in English.
In his opening speech, Prof. Bakhrom Abdukhalimov, Director of Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies and Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, said that the Institute gives importance to cooperating with institutions around the world and has organized dozens of academic conferences with the aim of promoting the academic study of Islamic manuscripts, particularly Central Asian manuscripts. Prof. Abdukhalimov expressed thanks and appreciation, on behalf of his Institute’s staff and his own, to Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA, for the academic support and cooperation extended to the Institute. Prof. Florian Schwarz, Director of the Institute of Iranian Studies, Austrian Academy of Sciences, said, in his speech, that one of the most dynamic fields is that of studies on manuscripts and manuscript cultures; he pointed to the significance of these materials as sources of historical, literary, artistic and other information and also as cultural heritage. Prof. Gabrielle van den Berg from Leiden University spoke of the development of Central Asian studies at Leiden University, past and present, and the expanding cooperation between Central Asian and European universities. Prof. Charles Melville, President of the British Institute of Persian Studies, pointed out to the coverage of the designation “Persian manuscripts” which historically extends beyond the frontiers of modern Iran. Speaking of the developments in manuscript studies, he described the association of researchers with manuscripts as a lively, active and genuine one.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç underlined the importance of studies on Islamic manuscripts from the viewpoint of IRCICA. Presenting the new book, the Director General said that it covers a remarkably wide spectrum of topics in Islamic studies, manuscript studies in particular, approached from different perspectives. With this diversified coverage, it will benefit academics and administrators involved in research and curriculum development as well as specialists and researchers in various disciplines of cultural studies. Prof. Kılıç also spoke of the engagement of IRCICA in promoting studies on Islamic history and culture and the sources of this culture including manuscripts, and described the wide geographical coverage of IRCICA’s activities over the OIC membership area that includes Central Asia, Caucasia, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, and Africa. The Director General thanked Professor Abdukhalimov and his colleagues for their cooperation which resulted in the new publication.
21 papers were presented by specialists of Islamic manuscripts from Asian and European countries. The sessions of the conference were titled: “Preserving the written cultural heritage”; “Manuscript evidence and historical interpretation”; “Manuscript collections: past, present, and future”; “Visual dimensions of manuscripts”; “Beyond the codex”; “Producing, publishing and studying texts: From manuscript cultures to the digital age”.
BOOK DONATION FROM THE IBN SINA ISLAMIC CULTURE RESEARCH FOUNDATION (MOSCOW)

On November 4, the library of the al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan received as a gift from the Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation (Moscow) 25 excellent books dedicated to the academic discourse on various aspects of the history, philosophy, culture and history of science of the Muslim East and to prominent scholars on the Islamic studies.
The Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation was established in 2007. It brings together the members of the academic and student community involved in studying different aspects of Islamic culture, science and philosophy. The founders of the Ibn Sina Foundation are Hamid Hadavimogaddam (PhD) and Stanislav Prozorov (leading researcher of the RAS Institute of Oriental Manuscripts). The main objective of the Foundation is to demonstrate the richness of Islamic culture.
The Foundation carries out various publishing, educational and academic projects and takes part in the organization of scientific conferences, presentations and exhibitions in cooperation with leading Islamic centres of Russia. About 10 series of scientific and popular scientific literature are currently published under the guidance of the Foundation. With the Foundation, the yearbook of Islamic philosophy, “Ishrak”, is also published, featuring the most important research articles by Russian and foreign scholars.
The al-Biruni Institute expresses its profound gratitude to the Ibn Sina Foundation administration, especially to its Director for Science, Andrey Lukashev, who has taken care of all the arrangements, for this valuable gift. The donated books will certainly help the readers of the Institute's library to comprehend the rich history and culture of the Muslim world as well as to popularise the educational activities of Ibn Sina Foundation in our country.
On October 7-9, 2021, I spoke at the Second International Symposium named after Prof. Fuat Sezgin on the history of Islamic sciences, which was held in Istanbul (Turkey) in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Republic Turkey, Istanbul University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Waqf University and Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Research Foundation for the History of Science in Islam. I exchanged views with scholars from Iran, Egypt, the Netherlands and other countries.н.
Abridged versions of medical treatises, their copies, storage locations, their impact on medical schools of subsequent periods were discussed with foreign colleagues. Iranian colleagues invited me to a conference in Tehran (Iran), scheduled for November 12-15, on the topic "Contribution of Iran and Turkey to the development of medical sciences", at which I plan to make a presentation on "Mujaz al-Qanun and its manuscripts in Turkish Foundations. "I am also planning to speak at the Health Sciences Symposium in Isparta, Turkey, November 19-20, as a speaker on "Abridged versions of Medical Treatises and Their Manuscripts in Turkish Libraries. "
At the end of the symposium, on 20.10.2021 I held a seminar on "Abridged versions of Ibn Sina's medical treatises and their role in the development of medieval medical education" at the Faculty of Medicine of Bahcesehir University, Turkey, and received a certificate of participation.
After the symposium, I spent two weeks working at the Sulaymaniye Library and found some resources I needed for my research.
During this trip, I gave an interview to an Istanbul newspaper about Ibn Sina's manuscripts in Turkey.
Also in the Sulaymaniye library, with the Turkish researcher of the life and work of Ibn Sina, Ferrukh Ozpilavchi, we prepared a program about Ibn Sina for the program of the Uzbek channel "Khalq Mulki (The Property of the Nation)".

Today, the the Young Scientists Council of Al-Biruni Institute of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences held a meeting on the competition "The most active Council of Young Scientists of the Year."
Hilola Nazirova, the Сhairperson of the Council of Young Scientists, introduced the terms of the competition to the members of the Council of Young Scientists. Yaroslav Kvintkov, Chairman of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences, also attended the meeting.
Ps.: In 2019, the Young Scientists Council of Al-Biruni Institute of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences won the Grand Prix.
On August 2, 2021, Professor Muhammad bin Salim al-Harisi from the Sultanate of Oman came to our institute to collect information from the manuscripts for his book about the «Mahalaba» tribe. During the visit, the guest got acquainted with the new building of the institute and met with officials. During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation in the future. Professor Muhammad bin Salim al-Harisi noted with satisfaction that the work carried out in Uzbekistan to preserve and study ancient written monuments deserves special praise. Then he looked through some of the manuscripts from the collection of the Institute, which were of interest to him and which could be published in future joint works. In conclusion, it should be noted that the meeting, held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, made a deep impression on the parties and serves to create a favorable environment for further expansion of cooperation.

International Conference dedicated to the Memory of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov on “New Perspectives for the Study of Islamic Culture, History and Art in Uzbekistan” organized in cooperation with Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of Uzbekista

An international conference “New Perspectives for the Study of Islamic Culture, History and Art in Uzbekistan” was organized by IRCICA and Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, on 28 May 2021. The conference was dedicated to the memory of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov. It was attended by scholars and researchers from various countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation, Turkey, USA, and Uzbekistan itself. The conference was held online and off-line. A total of 85 papers were presented, in 7 parallel sessions.
In his opening address, Prof. Dr. Bakhrom Abdukhalimov, Director of Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies and Vice-President of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, greeted the Director General of IRCICA Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, with congratulations on his taking the office. He recalled an earlier scholarly encounter with Prof. Kılıç relating to studies on Islamic manuscripts. Prof. Abdukhalimov said that preservation and study of the cultural heritage has been one of the priorities of state policy in Uzbekistan. In this regard, in-depth studies on Islamic manuscripts and activities relating to their preservation and cataloguing, are given importance. He evoked the contributions of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov to the research and literature on the works of the great Islamic scholars who were the heroes of Islamic sciences and philosophy. He said that the conference was going to hear papers by senior scholars and also by members of the Society of Young Scholars attached to the Institute; thus it would also serve as a testing ground for their work and a platform for intellectual dialogue.
Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA, delivered an opening address in which he greeted Prof. Bakhrom Abdukhalimov and the other dignitaries attending the opening session and all participants in the conference. He expressed his pleasure that IRCICA was cooperating with Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences on the occasion of this conference. He said that IRCICA gives importance to its cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan and the other OIC Member States in Central Asia, their academies, universities, and cultural institutions. The Director General said that several conferences are scheduled to be organized by IRCICA jointly with different institutions in Uzbekistan for the coming months. Furthermore, Ambassador Kılıç underlined the importance of studying the cultural and historical heritage of the OIC-IRCICA Member States in Central Asia, underscoring the role and place of this heritage in Islamic civilization and world civilization; he alluded to the numerous outstanding scholars of the region who worked in Islamic sciences, philosophy and mysticism and other fields, who came from diverse fields, almost all fields; Prof. Kılıç also referred to the cultural heritage of the cities, their architectural monuments, libraries, madrasas and cultural institutions. Ambassador Prof. Kılıç thanked the participating scholars and researchers for their interest and contributions.
Welcoming speeches were given by dignitaries. Ambassador Shaazim Minovarov, Advisor to H.E. the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan (Tashkent), and representative of Uzbekistan in IRCICA Governing Board, expressed congratulations to Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç on his assuming office at the head of IRCICA. He said that the Islamic cultural heritage in Uzbekistan is part of the heritage of all Muslim countries and it is important that it be studied by institutions such as IRCICA. Ambassador Minovarov underlined the benefits of activities such as this conference which bring together senior and junior scholars.
Professor Zokhidjon Islamov, Vice-Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), underlined the tradition existing in Uzbekistan to commemorate great scholars by dedicating academic events to their memories; he alluded to the activities of the new generations of scholars in different fields of Islamic studies, particularly the Society of Young Scholars affiliated to Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies and its members participating in the conference. Prof. Islamov praised the cooperation developed between Uzbekistan and IRCICA in the field of Islamic studies.
Professor Raiq Bahodirov, Director of the Center for the Research of Uzbekistan’s Cultural Wealth Located Overseas (Tashkent), alluded, in his speech, to the projects ongoing with the collaboration of IRCICA to locate and record the manuscript works of eminent scholars of Uzbekistan which are preserved in libraries and museums.
Dr. Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of Imam Bukhari International Scientific-Research Center (Samarkand), Dr. Shukurilla Umarov, Director of Imam Termizi International Scientific-Research Center (Termiz), and Professor Davronbek Maxsudov, Director of Imam Maturidi International Scientific-Research Center under the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, spoke of the development of studies on Islamic history, culture and arts in Uzbekistan, the activities of young scholars, and their respective institutions’ projects involving IRCICA as partner or co-organizer. Professor Nematulloh Mukhamedov, Head of the IRCICA Chair for Islamic History and Source Studies at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, outlined the activities implemented within the framework of the Chair.
The plenary session started with the highlight on “The role of Academician Ubaydulla Karimov’s research in the Oriental Studies in Uzbekistan” presented by Prof. Dr. Surayyo Ubaydullaevna Karimova. Academician Ubaydulla Karimov, to whose memory the conference was dedicated, authored valuable books on the history of science and scholarship. He is known particularly through his studies, translations and editions relating to the fundamental works of illustrious scientists such as Al-Razi, Ibn Sina and Al-Beruni. The plenary session continued with presentations highlighting the historical significance of the region of Uzbekistan and whole Central Asia in the development of civilization, Islamic philosophy, sciences and arts.
The seven parallel working sessions, held in the different halls of the Institute, were grouped under the following themes: History of Islamic Civilization; History; Source Studies; Islamic Studies; Heritage of Islamic Scholars; New Approaches and Views in Philological Studies. At the end of the sessions, certificates of participation were presented by the Institute to the young scholars for their achievements in research. Five diplomas for the best papers were conferred to Khurshid Azimov (Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies), Maftuna Mirzayeva (Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies), Anton Ikhsanov (Higher School of Economics, National Research University), Bekzodbek Mukhtarov (International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan), and Andrey Kubatin (National Centre of Archaeology). The diverse topics that were covered at each session have constituted another representative sample of the vast range of subjects that the field of history of Islamic scholarship, culture and civilization offers for study in the different regions of the Muslim world geography.
On March 3, 2021 representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus visited the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences.
The delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was represented by: Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus - Andrey Ivanovich Ivanets; General Director of the RUE "Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Fruit and Vegetable Growing" - Vadim Leonidovich Makhanko; Director of the Republican Production Unitary Enterprise "Akadempharm" - Mikitsky Yuri Mechislavovich.
The meeting was held in an informal friendly atmosphere, the guests got acquainted with the multifunctional activities of the Institute, such as scientific research in the field of academic oriental studies, the activities of the Manuscripts fund (conservation and restoration), digitalization of written heritage, as well as the work of the restoration department. The latter left a huge impression on the staff of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, which was admitted by the Chief Scientific Secretary Andrey Ivanovich.
He proposed to consider the possibilities of cooperation between the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences and specialized organizations of the Republic of Belarus, he also asked to convey information about the materials of restoration, which are difficult to find in the markets of the Republic of Uzbekistan such as methylcellulose glue and Japanese paper.
In turn, the delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus told about their activities and plans to create a new scientific organization for restoration in Belarus. Andrei Ivanovich emphasized that the experience of the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences could be useful for the Belarusian science and the parties expressed their hope for further cooperation.
Lecture 9 of the "Bilimkent" workshop: Present and Future of the History of Uzbekistan

An online speech was held as part of the "Bilimkent" workshop series dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Director of the Institute of History, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, Prof., Dr. Azamat Ziyo spoke on "The present and future of the history of Uzbekistan: problems and solutions." The workshop was held on August 27, 2020 at Kumushkon Resorts with the participation of a number of experts and online observers.
Within the framework of the topic, the problems of periodization of the history of Uzbekistan, the prospects of young people, methods of interpretation in history were analyzed. Questions and comments were asked by literary scholars, ethnographers, archaeologists, philosophers, and historians including Sinologists. In particular, it was agreed to publish the journals of the National Center for Archeology and the Institute of History, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences in the Latin alphabet in order to acquaint young people with the new researches.
At the end of the workshop, Hilola Nazirova, Chairman of the Council of Young Scholars of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences thanked Prof. Dr. Azamat Ziyo on behalf of all participants for an interesting and analytical report.
UZBEKISTAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES SUPPORTS SYRDARYA CHARITY CARAVAN: WE ARE WITH YOU!

On May 1, as a result of the breaking of the Sardoba reservoir, some districts of the Syrdarya region were flooded. As a result of prompt action by the government, the flood was stopped. But most of the population was left homeless. In response, the entire population of Uzbekistan organized a charity caravan "We are with you."
The UzbekistanAcademy of Sciences did not stay aside from this charitable work, and has organized a charity caravan "Humanitarian aid of the Academy of Sciences to the people of Sardoba district: We are with you!". The charity work came into being through fundraising, clothes, medicine, food, as well as books and toys for children. More than 1,000 employees from all institutes of the Academy took the initiative.
The list of volunteers was compiled by the Council of Young Scientists and the Trade Union of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. Employees of the Academy's Institutes of Oriental Studies, Mathematics, Ion-Plasma provided practical assistance in the formation of the charity caravan. The items presented by the esteemed team left for Syrdarya region.
